 Example: a solid model showing wireframe and internal hidden parts within the assembly. Designing parts using 3D solid modeling enables not only a part to be accurately designed for manufacture, and proves correct mating of parts within an assembly, but also enables the design of more accurate tooling. Moreover, the data from the solid model can be transferred to the Numerically Controlled Programs of the manufacturing machine shop facility. |

The red area. This depicts an area of concern, because once the tank is installed onto the aircraft it may start to crack if subjected to the intended loads, as they have been entered into the software. The FEM saves labour and expenses because it enables these problem areas to be detected early in the process, before any physical test is undertaken. Such early detection allows the tank to be redesigned locally, with little or no impact on budget or schedule.

 Once a part has been designed as a solid model, it is possible to render the part by adopting any of a number of visual choices. This will aid in the development of Technical Manuals and Marketing documentation. |
