Shorts 330/360 Ballistic and Intrusion Proof Cockpit System

   TAG’s first all composite project was the development of a ballistic and intrusion proof cockpit system for the Shorts 330/360 aircraft.    To date TAG is still the only Canadian company to have designed and certified a FAR25 compliant ballistic proof cockpit.

   TAG overcame numerous challenges in this program such as the introduction of non aerospace specific or uncertified materials into    the aircraft structure in the form of Spectrashield Plus ballistic thermoset laminates. TAG developed and documented material    specifications and test procedures to facilitate the certification of the cockpit protection system by both the FAA and Transport Canada of    Spectrashield, carbon fiber and fiberglass components used in the system.
