he TAG Security Shield is a kit designed specifically for easy installation into the cockpit bulkhead of Shorts SD330 and 360 aircraft.
Enhanced security is provided while maintaining the original functionality of the cockpit bulkhead design, which allows each door to slide open and be housed in a central panel. The TSS kit doors are also designed for easy removal and replacement.

TAG's unique design can withstand intrusions from un-authorized personnel and small arms fire. The innovative solution uses the latest composite ballistic panel technology to create a sandwich featuring:
- Aluminum core with fiberglass and graphite facing sheets to resist impact
- Layered with Advanced Ballistic Proof Composite which is more bulletproof than Kevlar
- Encased in Flame Retardant aluminum alloy panels to meet FAR 25 Appendix F Fire Retardant regulations; as well as provide structural integrity and minimizing weight
A steel equivalent structure providing the same protection would weigh six times that of the TAG Security Shield. |
A sample ballistic panel was successfully tested to level IIIA of the National Institute of Justice Standard 0101.04 as required by FAA AC 25.795-2
The panels prevented penetration by 9mm full metal jacket bullets and .44 magnum jacketed hollow point bullets, with all bullets traveling at 1430 feet per second.
The impact test rig shown at right was used to ensure the TSS panel met requirements for being intrusion proof, as required by FAA AC 25.795-1.
FAA's amended FAR part 25.772 Pilot Compartment Doors and FAR part 25.795 Security Considerations requires any aircraft with more than 20 seats operating under Part 121 rules (scheduled airlines including all aircraft, cargo & passenger) to have an enhanced cockpit security door installed.
The TAG Security Shield is Transport Canada (SA03-90) and FAA (ST01835NY) STC Approved , speeding up the time for the customer to have the kit installed in their fleet to meet the new FAA regulations.
