The TAG team is not simply a group of individuals, but a culture of collaboration. We organize specialists into project specific engineering teams to effectively carry out each aspect of your project requirements. Management is the heart of the TAG team. Our core group of professionals bring a wealth of global experience in the design of both fixed and rotary wing aircraft, providing strong, industry- driven operations management.
Mike Hurworth, P.Eng, MBA
An experienced industry professional, Mike Hurworth holds a Masters Degree in Business Administration from Simon Fraser University, Canada, and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Aeronautical Engineering from Hatfield Polytechnic, England. He has over 25 years experience in airframe stress analysis, finite element modeling, damage tolerance analysis and project management as a consultant to a variety of aerospace companies in Canada. He has worked on both civil and military aircraft projects, having been Senior Stress Engineer on the RAF L1011 tanker/freighter and on the Bombardier Regional and Business Jet programs. He was a delegated structures engineer for Canadian Airlines International and now serves as a Transport Canada delegated engineer for TAG Aerospace to facilitate its DAO certification process.
Philip Evans
Philip Evans is an accomplished structures design engineer with 25 years experience in designing airframe structures, mechanical systems and tooling. He was a senior structural design engineer on the Canadair RJ700 program, the 747 Accurate Fuselage Assembly (AFA) program, and other projects for major manufacturers such as Avcorp, Boeing and De-Havilland. Philip’s credentials include the London City & Guilds Higher National Certificate (HNC) from Rolls-Royce Aeronautical College, England, specializing in Aerospace Mechanical Engineering.
Dr Slava Zarubin
Dr Slava Zarubin heads the composites structures group. Dr Zarubin gained his doctorate of science and post doctorate qualifications within the Russian aerospace industry and academia. Dr Zarubin was a key player in the Russian investigations into anisotropic isogrid (anisogrid) aerospace structural optimization.
Magnus Axelsson, M.Sc.
As a Structures Engineer, Magnus has focused his career on structural analysis, including finite element modeling, fatigue and damage tolerance analysis. His extensive project experience includes: the Bombardier CRJ-700, Conair Firecat/Turbo Firecat, Aerostar 600/601, KingAir 200, AirTractor AT802, Twin Commander, de Havilland DHC-2, DHC-7 and DHC-8, Fokker F27 and DC-6, Lockheed L-188, and Boeing 737. He has expert knowledge of Transport Canada and FAA certification and regulatory requirements, effective use of LEAN product development techniques and his experience at SAAB; make Magnus another valuable member of the TAG Team. Magnus holds a Master of Science degree from the Linkoping University in Sweden and is a Transport Canada delegated engineer.
Adriana Bartoli, M.Sc.
Adriana brings aerodynamics, thermal analysis, virtual wind tunnel and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) expertise to the company. Adriana has an M.SC. in Aeronautics from the Universidad Nacional de La Plata (UNLP), La Plata, Argentina. She has performed thermal and thermo elastic design for the earth observation and scientific satellites projects Hero, RapidEye, and Cassiope. She was also involved in the design of a subsonic wind tunnel for the Aerospace Engineering Department at the Polytechnic of Turin. Adriana performed all aerodynamics and loads analysis for the TAG Cessna 172 winglet program.
Juan Pablo Hurtado
Juan’s organizational and people skills compliment his Mechanical Engineering qualifications and design experience. These abilities make him a natural at configuration control and administration. He has a BS Mechanical Engineering Degree from the Universidad de los Andes, Columbia. Juan joined El Gavilan SA prior to the launch of the certification program for the new single engine Gavilan 358. Since this aircraft was the first production aircraft to be produced by Gavilan, it required the creation of an engineering department to produce and document the comprehensive processes and certification methodology. Juan’s involvement in making this a success was invaluable.
Valentin Ionescu, M.Sc.
With 12 years of manufacturing design experience, Valentin is a Mechanical Engineer well-versed in product development and systems integration. His successful career took him through fields as diverse as aerospace structures, electro-mechanical precision imaging systems and automation of pharmaceutical production lines. At TAG, Valentin specializes in composites structural design and specifications for materials and processes. Valentin holds a Master of Science equivalent degree in Aerospace Engineering from the Polytechnic University of Bucharest, Romania. He also has a certificate in Advanced Composites Manufacturing and Quality Control from Abaris Advanced Composites Training School in Reno, Nevada.
Robert Moore, P.Eng
Robert Moore holds a Bachelor of Applied Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of British Columbia and is a registered Professional Engineer with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of B.C. Rob’s expertise is the successful design, finite element modeling and stress analysis of complex aerospace structures. During his career, he has completed a variety of projects including the Bombardier RJ-50 Horizontal Stabilizer, Bombardier CRJ-700 Empennage, the Bombardier CL604 Challenger Extended Light Weight Fuel Tank, and the Defense Research Establishment Pacific Aircraft Battle Damage and Repair Study for the CF-18 Fighter Jet. Rob is a proven professional who brings outstanding mechanical engineering skills to the team.
